About these names

Blog names with the .com free

A blog name has to survive being cited: linked in someone else's article, said in a podcast, typed from memory weeks later. Short coined words do that; clever phrases with hyphens or misspellings do not.

Naming a blog after its current subject is the most common mistake, because publications drift. A neutral name lets the coverage widen without the title arguing with the content.

Common questions

Should my blog name include my niche?
It helps for about a year and constrains you afterwards. Most sites that grow end up broader than they started, and the niche word becomes something to explain away.
Is a .com necessary, or is a subdomain enough?
A platform subdomain builds equity for the platform. If you ever migrate, you restart — the .com is what makes the audience portable.
Does the name affect search rankings?
Not directly. It affects whether people remember you well enough to search for you at all, and branded search is a strong signal in its own right.
